Kirya Traber, a country girl in love with the city, has drawn national attention for the raw honesty of her work. A 2004 National Teen Poetry Slam Champion, she has featured at Robert Redford's Sundance Summit, the Bay Hip Hop Theatre Festival, the Living Word Festival, San Francisco's Lit Quake, The Stern Grove Festival, Michelle Tea's RADAR Reading series, and Peace Out: The International Homo Hop Festival. She made her print debut in Tiny Little Maps to Each Other, a collection of five young women poets published by First Word Press. In 2007 she played the lead in Eisa Davis' Pulitzer-nominated Bullrusher. She is currently working on a new volume of poetry.
